Today we're going to discuss the similarities and differences within the line of Peltor LiteCom headsets, the LiteCom Pro III, and the LiteCom FRS headset.

The LiteCom pro III headset is fully programmable and integrates with your existing two-way radio while the FRS headset takes small group communication to the next level.

Both headsets are used in workplaces like manufacturing and industrial plants, airport tarmac, construction, and many more.

By learning what each the LiteCom III and FRS has to offer, you’ll do a better job at deciding which is right for your team.

What's the same?

Being in the line of LiteCom headsets, they both share similarities in features and design.

First, both of the headsets provide hearing protection and include a built-in wireless analog two-way radio that allows for communications up to 2000 feet line of sight. This is great for large workforces and keeping everyone connected no matter how far they are.

Next, each headset provides great situational awareness with the use of external microphones. This is great for continuing to hear conversations while still being aware of your surroundings, something you need while working in hazardous areas.

Each headset is equipped with VOX Voice Operated Transmission for hands-free voice transmission through a noise-canceling microphone. The headsets also come with a push-to-talk button on the earcup too.

Lastly, both the LiteCom Pro III and the 3M Peltor FRS LiteCom are available in either headband, neckband, or helmet attachment configurations. The helmet configuration allows you to wear the headset and a hard hat simultaneously.

What's different?

The headsets do however have some very distinct differences.

Litecom PRO III

First, we’ll talk about the LiteCom Pro III.

This headset is more feature-rich and comes with 70 channels of which 44 are preprogrammed and can be used right out of the box.

Next, the headset includes Bluetooth functionality which allows you to pair with your smartphone. The FRS headset does not have the Bluetooth feature.

With the LiteCom PRO III, you can make calls simultaneously with the two-way radio and stream music.

More features of the LiteCom Pro III include,

  • DMR two-way radio
  • Environmental listening
  • Programmable
  • External audio jack
  • Available in intrinsically safe

Litecom FRS Headset

The LiteCom FRS headset operates on 22 FRS channels. FRS is known as Family Radio Service and was developed for consumer recreational use that was different than what is reserved for other types of communications.

Both headsets will allow you to communicate with your team and protect your hearing in the workplace. The decision comes down to a few factors including the number of channels you’ll need, if the functionality features are important to you like Bluetooth and intrinsically safe, and if you want a connection to your existing two-way radio.
