Installing Your Cradlepoint Mobile Router

Follow these steps below for proper installation of your router when installing into a vehicle.

  1. Find Mounting Position
    • Ensure you are mounting on a flat surface
    • If this router is replacing an existing router, remove the previous device and all its mounting hardware before placing the Cradlepoint router in that position
    • Hold the Cradlepoint in position and mark the locations of the mounting bolts with a permanent marker.
    • If you are replacing an old router and want to reuse the same holes, make sure the hole sizes match. You might need to redrill holes for a proper fit
    • Place router aside. Its now time to install the mounting hardware
  1. Install the Mounting Hardware
    • Use the automatic center-punch tool, dent the marked bolt positions to be drilled.
    • Drill holes for the screws.
  1. Affix the device
    • Align the Cradlepoint device to the screw holes.
    • Tighten the screws to secure the device to the vehicle
  1. Connect the Antennas
    • Antennas are not supplied with the router due to the uniqueness of every installation. View our Cradlepoint antennas page for more details on which antennas we offer.
Each antenna will have installation instructions. Install these according to the instructions and ensure to keep the minimum separation distance that is outlines in the Safety, Regulatory, and Warranty guide that is with your router.
It’s best practice to use two separate antennas to increase isolation for instances when running two active modems.
Don’t over tighten the connection to the router. Use your fingers to tighten only.
