5G technology has started rolling out across the United States in the later months of 2018. 5G antennas are being manufactured that will improve signal and cover more applications than before. Pulse Larsen manufactures 5G antennas that operate on a frequency range of 617MHz to 7125MHz with 85% efficiency.
Pulse has 5G antennas that are labeled PCB, FPC, Stick, Blades, Stubby, and Composite antennas with different connector options. Pulse Larsen 5G antennas are ideal for consumer devices, automotive electronics, industrial surveillance, enterprise router, and small cell applications.
In this article, weβre going to explain the difference between 4G and 5G, the bandwidth of the 5G, features and benefits, and what each antenna means and is used for.
Difference Between 4G and 5G
5G wireless technology is an improvement from 4G. 5G is known to carry more data faster than 4G. 5G provides bigger channels that bring our higher data speeds, lower latency for more responsiveness, and connect to more devices for smart devices and sensors.
5G Bandwidth
To enable the improvements of 5G, the network will run on three different bands. These bands are low-band, mid-band, and millimeter-band which will increase the number of nodes and complexity of the system greatly. Antenna solutions like Pulse Larsen are key to system performance.
Features and Benefits of 5G Antennas
- Wide range of antenna options for 5G applications including flexible circuit board (FPC), PCB, direct mount, magnetic mount
- Frequency bands from 617Mhz to 7125Mhz
- Wifi, Bluetooth, BLE, Zigbee, MiMo, GNSS
- Excellent Gain across the bandwidth
- IoT, SmartGrid, Meters, Remote Monitoring, Sensor Networks
- Security, Video, Graphics
- TE Radios, Femto Cell, SOHO
- Telemetry, High-Speed Data
How to Read the Chart
In this chart below, we provide you with Pulse Larsen part numbers that are listed as 5G antennas. Each antenna then has information on its frequency range, gain, efficiency, polarization, radiation pattern, connector, if it has ingress protection, and lastly the size (mm). These antennas are either embedded, internal, external, and outdoor antennas.
What Does Each Antenna Type Mean?
Internal FPC/PCB Antennas: These are pre-optimized performances with common plastic housing. Compact dimensions and adhesive mounts. Thin NFC antennas are used for payment and sharing.
External In-Building Antennas: These antennas can either be blade or stick and are used for routers, in-building wireless, and public safety.
Outdoor Antennas: These are weatherproof portable and fixed antennas. Used for portable radios and data collecting purposes.
